Changing Futures - Building Better Opportunities
In February 2017 Veterans in Communities was a delivery partner in the Changing Futures project in Lancashire. Changing Futures was part of the nationwide Building Better Opportunities programme, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the National Lottery Community Fund to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.
The Changing Futures project focused on supporting people facing multiple and complex barriers to employment. All participants were unemployed or economically inactive and were at high risk of social exclusion, such as people from BAME communities, people with physical or mental health problems and people with learning difficulties.
Through the Changing Futures project, the delivery partners worked with each participant as an individual. Our Transformational Coaches helped and supported each participant to understand their own abilities, skills and interests to identify ways to help address their multiple barriers to economic activity.
Through the duration of the project, the Changing Futures partnership aimed to support 1000 people over the age of 15 to overcome multiple and complex barriers and move closer to employment, education or training. We were proud to be part of this specialist partnership of social enterprises and community organisations whose work is transforming lives across Lancashire.
THIS PROJECT IS NO LONGER BEING FUNDED AND GILL HAS BEEN RE-ASSIGNED TO WORK ON OTHER PROJECTS. THIS PROJECT ENDED ON THE 31st March 2023.

amazing that the next part of my assistance will be contacting me on Monday
- As I have been blessed with the fantastic help from Gill at VIC, I find it totally
morning. To be honest, with Gill referring me on Thursday morning, I want to say how much I appreciate the help given, and for such a quick response by the third party. I can honestly say that VIC has given me the best level of support in all the years of volunteering in my time. Many thanks for the help from Gill and the other members who have been involved with me whilst I
have been a member of VIC
