Project Overview
The aim of the Thrive Together NW Programme is:
• Give veterans safe, welcoming places to go in their local area.
• Support veterans and their families / carers to access mental health support and treatment pathways that meet their needs.
• Ensure that the people who support veterans (staff and particularly volunteers) can access good quality training and can have better access to connect veterans into wider pathways.
As part of the sustainability and legacy development in the first iteration of VPPP, the Forces Wellbeing Collective was launched– a network of professionals, volunteers and cross-sector organisations joining forces to improve the wellbeing of the Armed Forces community in the North West. This is the primary mechanism through which the implementation of strategic delivery of goals and ensure lasting impact for service users and sustainability for the wider sector.
Background
During the initial delivery of the Veterans’ Places, Pathways & People (VPPP) Programme (2022-2023), funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, a Portfolio of Partners was formed in the North West representing a wealth of services across the region; the Forces Wellbeing Collective. Armed Forces Community HQ (AFCHQ) will be the Portfolio Lead under the Thrive Together Programme (2024-2027).
As part of the sustainability and legacy development in the first iteration of VPPP, the Forces Wellbeing Collective was launched as a network of professionals, volunteers and cross-sector organisations joining forces to improve the wellbeing of the Armed Forces community in the North West. AFCHQ will continue to coordinate and develop the regional network as the primary mechanism to implement the Thrive Together Programme North West strategic goals and will also work with key Partners to implement additional resources focusing on community capacity building that will ensure lasting impact for service users and sustainability for the wider sector. Community Capacity Builder
The Community Capacity Builder will work with the Partnerships Manager to support and manage the delivery of the Thrive Together Programme and the North West 2024-2027 Strategic Delivery Plan. He will be responsible for stakeholder engagement across sub-region and growing the membership of the Forces Wellbeing Collective, supporting the implementation of the regional strategic delivery plan to ensure lasting impact for service users and sustainability for the wider sector.
There are five capacity builders Veterans In Communities, Armed Forces HQ based in Wigan, One Vision Uniformed Services CIC based in Kendall. These Capacity Builders will cover Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cumbria, Merseyside and Cheshire.
