Veterans Social Carp Angling
One of our members Darren Horsnell had an idea in 2022 to organise a Carp Angling Completion. Darren has been a keen Carp angler for many years and has fished a great many lakes in England and France, with his son Barry Horsnell they planned a charity angling competition to raise money for VIC. Barry wanted to give something back to VIC in appreciation for all the support we have given his dad over the last ten years. The first event was held over 48 hours on the 6th and 7th June 2023 at the https://www.linear-fisheries.co.uk.
Carp legend Lee Jackson attended and one of long standing member Graham Limb helped me out with the Logistics and BBQ. We managed to raise £2540 for VIC. On top of that Barry has also paid a deposit for next years venue.

Just got home safe and sound. Cannot tell you how proud of my son I am for organising the event and how overwhelmed Graham and I with the way you guys welcomed us and have been so generous. I hope to see you all again at the next social. Stay safe and if anyone knows or are veterans who need some form of help please don’t hesitate to ask what we can do for them. Any form of mental health can be torturous so it’s important they don’t suffer in silence. Thanks again to you.
Thanks to everyone at VIC for what you do, and thanks to everyone who organised such a great few days. I really enjoyed it, met some great people, and made some connections with like-minded people. I'm looking forward to the next 1 already even though I'm still blanking . As I said earlier any assistance I can give on the next event just ask am happy to help in anyway I can apart from any sexual favors tight lines all and stay safe
Had an amazing week. My son Barry Horsnell who I am exceptional proud of organized a charity carp fishing social at Linear-fisheries for a 48 hour period to raise money but also to give back to Veterans In Communities for what they have done for me over the past ten years or so. So many thanks to give out, especially to all the guys who attended the match, Carp legend Lee Jackson for attending and to Graham Limb for helping me out with the Logistics and BBQ. We managed to raise £2540 for VIC. On top of that Barry has also paid a deposit for next years venue and it is my understanding that it has almost been sold out with many of this years anglers booking up and supporting VIC once again. On top of that, Carp Legend Lee Jackson personally invited me to fish with him for 48 hours at an amazing venue. Darren Horsnell (VIC)
Been an absolute pleasure (although pure fluke) to have such a great group of anglers on our first event and hopefully many more to come. Back to reality doing school run and then sons footy training later but this evening I'll go through photos etc and put them on here. I'll then reach out once transferred money over to VIC for start collecting deposits for next year Thanks again from myself and everyone at VIC. Barry Horsnell
