Model Railway Club
The Model Railway Club is a social project for our members that had an interest in building and running a model Railway. Many of our members had built their own models at home or are or were part of an existing club. Unfortunately just as the members started the planning and building stages the COVID crisis happened and the restrictions and lockdown meant we had to suspend the club at the end of march.
However due to the generosity of our members, the public and other individuals who donated their unwanted models, we had enough donations to build a model. The purpose of the club will be so that members can meet regularly at the Accrington Veterans Drop-in, learn to build a series of models, get ideas and tips from other enthusiasts. In August two founding members of the club met at the Accrington Drop-in to look through the kit we were donated. At the start of the COVID lockdown we had a generous donation from Vinny Haughton who attend the Heywood Sandbag Cafe. In September four members started to build their first model. Although it is only initially Fridays we are looking to add more days so more members can attend once the restrictions allow. |
