Remembrance silhouettes
The 2020 COVID crisis and the restrictions meant that many of the organised events; VE Day, VJ Day and Remembrance services had to cancelled.
In October 2020 Veterans In Production and our Pyrography group had the idea the make some silhouettes, the purpose was two-fold; COVID had already affected our fundraising events and our members could get a silhouette to either go in the window at home or in their garden as they couldn't attend the Remembrance services. If they couldn't go out to their local Cenotaph at least they could at least show their support for Remembrance at home.
We were unprepared for the high demand for our silhouettes and the team worked extremely hard for three weeks to produce 40 Window Silhouette, 55 Window hangers and 10 larger garden silhouettes. Each silhouette sold we made a donation to Haslingden Royal British Legion as we would've normally supported them through the Poppy Appeal.
In 2021 we changed the silhouette to a 'We Salute you' 2021, and our pyrography window hangers designs were changed. These are limited and each year we will have new designs so people can collect a set.
